Jimi trained in the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland, Dublin, and then worked in a number of gardens and nurseries before landing his dream job at Airfield, an estate farm in south county Dublin. Once owned by sisters Letitia and Naomi Overend, his ambition was to transform 38 acres into a visitor destination. He was appointed head gardener at the age of 21.
In 2001, he took on 20 acres of his family estate to create his very own garden at Hunting Brook Gardens, Co. Wicklow. His log cabin arrived from Poland, which he now shares with my Old English Sheepdog, Doris and long-haired dachshund, Billy. And, in May 2002, the gardens opened to the public for the first time – where he grows and expands his plant collection and shares his passion for plants with other fanatics.
