Tig, from Dublin, qualified in horticulture in the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin, following his degree in History of Art from Trinity College, Dublin.

Together with his wife Anthea Howbert, they run Howbert & Mays Garden in Dublin.
Howbert & Mays is a supplier of indoor and outdoor plants, as well as other related items for the home.
